Paderewski’s Attendance Action Plan
95% Attendance Goal
Students
Attendance is necessary for good student progress. Students with more than nine (9) days of unexcused absences are in jeopardy of being retained.
- Students should come to school on-time, every day. All students should arrive at 8:00 AM.
- Students arriving after 9:10 AM are considered tardy and must present a tardy slip to enter class.
- Students who arrived after 9:30 AM will report to the office and call their parents to explain why they are late.
- All students who are absent must bring an excuse note from their parents. The only acceptable excuses are (1) illness, (2) death in the immediate family, (3) family emergency, and (4) observation of a religious holiday.
- All students who come to school on-time on a daily basis for one month will receive five (5) PBIS dollars to be used at the store at the end of month. Students will discipline problems are excluded.
Teachers
Attendance goal is 95%. Students are to be reminded daily by the teacher.
- Teachers are to admit students who arrive after 9:10 am only if they have a tardy slip. Send the student down to the attendance desk if the student does not have a tardy slip.
- Teachers must enter attendance into IMPACT by 9:30 AM and submitted.
- Teachers are required to call the parents of any student who is absent twice. Teachers must record the calls on the Attendance Home Call Log provided by Chicago, Public Schools.
Parents
- Parents should send their children to school every day, on-time.
- Parents must send an excuse note to school with their child to account for every absence. The only acceptable excuses are (1) Illness (2) death in the immediate family (3) family emergency and 94) observation of a religious holiday.
- Parents may call the school if their child is tardy or absent and are required to send a written excuse.
Incentives
The following incentives will be provided to honor students with good attendance:
- Month
- Student of the month picture displayed in classrooms and hallway.
- Students will be given pen, pencils, pencil sharpeners, and fast food certificates
- Quarterly
- Ice cream social
- Pizza Party
- Movie day
- Award certificates at the end of each quarter.
